MR. MANIDY

challenge

A greek & swiss-based electronic DJ that needed a completely new identity. The challenge was to create a unique name together with a catchy iconic logo that fits his style and flows into his latest outstanding album cover. We pushed him to new heights of self-marketing with MR. MANIDY.

The name he used before, represented deprecated values. That's why we developed a new one based on his current carer as a DJ. During some sessions of visual thesauring with him we eventually created a thinkmap with different values that would describe him & his music style the best.

identity & brand

Values like light, darkness & nature (matching his music) and "virility" (as a person) were the way to go and fit his current style. Combining these elements into an easy & remarkable iconic symbol that could be used on stage, on merchandise brought us to some first solutions.

We found the strongest of the values, that he wants to represent, the virility in his name "Sismanidis" already and decided to extract "manidi" as it sounded really melodic. Adding a "Mister" in front completed the Name. "MR. MANIDY".

Showing the light as a beam and the darkness with a simple animalic bat shape, lined up nicely with the goal to draw his logo shape with bare hands in the air. This remarkable icon directly caught his attention. Finally, we chose the "Halis Grotesque" as a typographic support. With its keen caps and geometric look, it completes the identity together.

Stamped with a shiny silver hot foil to let the logo stand out on the front side. On the back the wings encompass further contact data in a more dynamic form from various directions.

As a follow up we were able to produce a first cover series. The brand values of light and darkness made us thinking to setup an entire minimalistic luminary series for upcoming releases. The series will be pierced by special mix releases.
